1. Differentiate between public and private messages.
The mailing list is public space. If you wish to respond to a specific person, please be careful to address your email to that person. When you simply “reply” to a Listserv message, the whole list will receive your reply.
2. If you are requesting specific information please remind members to respond to you directly and not the whole list.
3. Use informative subject headers. Be specific. Be precise. Vague subject lines (or no subject lines) are likely to be ignored or deleted.
4. Be brief.
5. When generating a reply, users should delete the original message, or just leave segments of the original message, which are being specifically replied to.
6. Attachments should not be sent to Listserv unless the group is aware that the attachment is being sent. As an alternative include a web link to an image.
7. Sign your messages with your full name and e-mail address.
8. Keep the length of your lines 70 characters or less. Longer lines can cause problems with some e-mail systems.
9. Here are a few problems with solutions that you should check prior to sending messages to the web coordinator. You can contact the web coordinator who can help you by going to the SGC contact page at http://www.southerngraphics.org/contact.asp – do NOT send technical problems out to the whole list. |
